STATE EVALUATIONS AND RATINGS The Pennsylvania Department of Health, Division of Nursing Care Facilities is charged with the licensing and oversight of nursing homes/long-term care facilities in the Commonwealth. Their report can be viewed at http://www.health.state.pa.us/qa/ltc/. Unfortunately, they provide little analysis of their ratings (for example, not all items found to be “deficiencies” are of the same magnitude). When examining their findings, please keep the following in mind. • CLTCN members consistently receive high scores on our evaluations • Each Network member is glad to show you its latest state evaluation and discuss it with you • The best way to determine the validity of evaluations is to visit the facility and judge for yourself • You are always welcome to make an appointment and visit any CLTCN member.
